Biographie

Yaouba Souaibou holds a PhD in Natural Products Chemistry from the University of Nairobi. During his PhD Research work, he was invited for research stays at the University of Gothenburg (Sweden) in 2017 and the Technical University of Dortmund (Germany) in 2018. After defending his PhD, he gained substantial research experience in bacterial natural products through his first postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Lorraine (2019 - 2020). He later completed two additional postdoctoral research programs in Canada: one in medicinal chemistry at McGill University and another in bioengineered natural products from microalgae at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. Since 2023, he has been serving as an Associate Professor of Pharmacognosy, where he carry out research projects in natural product chemistry with a focus on modern analytical methodologies, while also teaching at the Faculty of Pharmacy. Research interests • Bioactive natural products (mycochemistry, phytochemistry, dereplication, and molecular networking of specialized and bioengineered secondary metabolites) • Semi-synthesis and molecular docking of bioactive natural products • Application of tandem analytical techniques (CPC, HPLC–LCMS, and NMR) for antibacterial natural products • Bio-sourced active compounds and biopolymers, with an emphasis on green chemistry strategies
