Radiobiology

The team develops activities in the field of innovative techniques in the fight against cancer, hadrontherapy. The favorable ballistics offered by charged particles, compared to the X-rays used in conventional radiotherapy, makes it possible to treat certain cancerous tumors more effectively, but in return requires a good knowledge of the physical and biological models of interaction of hadrons with living organisms.

Its activity, in addition to the development of the experimental radiobiology line at the CYRCé platform, consists of the development of new preclinical irradiation protocols with a view to improving future treatments and measuring the effects of proton irradiation on living organisms for improving models.

The team works in a highly multidisciplinary research field in collaboration with various teams of biologists and clinicians at national and international level.
